“My cousin is also a commercial photographer”

Last project I have shot brought something familiar to my attention. The client was visibly (and understandably) upset that he had to redo a photo shoot for the items produced by his company after having a bad final result from yet another “commercial photographer” based in Montreal. Since I encounter this situation far too often I decided to …

About the technical aspect of product photography

Recently we had several clients coming after having bad experiences with cheap competitor “professionals”, on the local Montreal commercial photography scene. Unlike people photography which has a preponderant social aspect, achieving decent product or food photography require a lot of technical skills and the right equipment. We see a lot of examples were technical flaws are just ignored …

Our Montreal Photography Studio has a new location!

A couple of months ago we started the process of moving our Montreal photo studio in a new location. We found a very nice commercial space right on the Lachine Canal. A freshly renovating old building with a very nice architecture and New York 14.5′ tall spaces. The landlord seemed very friendly and helpful and we …

“Toying” around with a Phase One IQ

Recently I had the pleasure to work for a particular photography project. A Montreal company which produces toy-robots contacted me in order to create imagery that will refresh their commercial interface. Phase One Toronto Headshots

Above is a sample which has almost no retouching. Gear used: 3x Profoto D1  with Octa 5′ softbox and 2 x 3/1 strip box Phase One IQ140 Schneider …

Catrina festival in Playa del Carmen – impressive low light capabilities for Nikon D800

One warm night I took my Nikon D800 for a stroll through the colorful Playa del Carmen, Mexico. In beautiful inner garden I met a pretty Mexican girl prepared for the ongoing La Catrina festival and I couldn’t miss the opportunity to snap a couple of pictures. Pairing it with the new Sigma 50mm f/1.4 art …

Our neutral two cents reviews!

This Blog is planned to be focused on our experience with different types of systems we use on daily bases. It’s a hands-on approach. We try to avoid getting advantages from writing a very positive review but rather expose our day-by-day studio experience without the make-over other photographers apply to the review.

We work hard to pay for our equipment and until now we didn’t have any privilege from the companies that produced tour gear. This somehow insures our neutrality. Thank you and enjoy!
